To successfully open Gmail attachment in Office Online you have to carefully follow the below steps:
- Turn on 2- step verification in your Gmail account. You have to create an app password that Outlook can use so it can connect Gmail with the Office Online.
- Open the Outlook app and click on the File option in the top corner.
- From the file under account information click on the +Add account.
- From the current screen Fillup your Name, Gmail id, and password that you want to connect here. And then click Next.
- After clicking finish Outlook will be connected and synced with the mail you have provided. And it’ll show under your Office id mailbox.
- Now, for importing attachments and messages again from the Outlook app click on the file then Open & export, and from there click on Import/Export.
- Now, Click on “Export to a file” from the Import and Export Wizard and click on the Next button.
- Then click on the Outlook Data File option and again click Next.
- Then select your Gmail account from the list and click include subfolders to make sure the emails are copied.
- Then from the Export Outlook Data File option select a location where your Outlook file will be saved. It’ll be saved as .pst format which is Outlook data file format. Under options select the one you need and click Finish.
- You can add an optional password here but if you don’t enter any data and click ok. It will also work.
- Now for the importing part. From file then Open & Export so start the wizard.
- From the wizard click on “Import from another program or file” and then Next.
- Choose Outlook Data file and the next.
- Now open the saved file from step 10 browsing the saved location on your PC. Select the necessary option as you need and click Next.
- If any password is assigned enter the credentials in the prompt.
- Choose Import items into the same folder and enter your Microsoft id and click finish.
- Now your Gmail attachment or messages will be copied into your Office 365/ Outlook mailbox. It may take a long time if you have a lot of data. After the process, you can open any Gmail attachment directly from your Office 365 mailbox.
